Robert Marley aka Bob Marley, the undisputed King of Reggae Music, remains a global icon whose life and legacy continues to be celebrated in countless ways but his incredible rise to fame began right here, with his first single. Released in 1963 on the Beverley’s label, ‘Judge Not!’ b/w ‘Do You Still Love Me?’ gave the teenage Marley his debut hit thanks to the A-side’s jaunty melodies and catchy ska beat while the lyrics – borrowed from Margie Bowes’ 1960 C&W release – made him sound wise beyond his years. 

The appeal of ‘Judge Not!’, together with that of the whimsical, yet upbeat song on the flipside – again resulting from that first historic recording session – is just as timeless and immediate today as it was 60 years ago. Marley’s promise was evident from the start and so this milestone reissue will prove indispensable to all fans of Bob Marley and Jamaican music.
