Todmorden Soul Club - Soul Celebration EP in memory of Ginger Taylor

Charly Records are honoured to present the ‘Soul Celebration’ EP in memory of Northern Soul’s Best Friend, GINGER TAYLOR.

Some of you would call him John, others would call him Raymond, but to many he was known as “GINGER” – a name that reverberated around the world as a leading Northern Soul deejay!

So it was that at Easter 1971 Ginger and his DJ partner Eddie started spinning Northern Soul at the local Ukrainian Club in Todmorden and in so doing, they changed the mindset of a generation in the town, with rare soul music taking precedence over the pop charts. This led to soul nights and All-Dayers at the hilltop Bay Horse Inn at Cross Stone amongst many others in the area. They were busy times, and Ginger would go on to become the scenes most beloved deejay and friend.
